7 Days: Sunday

By Anna

This past Sunday started a bit differently to most.  On Saturday night we went to a wedding, so the kids had a sleep over at my SILs house and G and I stayed in the city.  We actually got a sleep in!  Actually G slept in, I seem to have lost the ability to do so… but I did enjoy sitting in the peace and quiet and read a magazine.

After a quiet breakfast by the river (I’m obsessed with smoked salmon and potato rosti for breakfast at the moment), it was time to return to real life and go and pick up the girls.

Piled the car up with the kids, their bags, sleeping toys, lego and everything else you could possibly imagine and gave them wedding chocolate treats. My sister had been to the markets earlier that morning and she’d bought me a bunch of poppies (one of my favourites), so we headed over to her place to say hi and pick up the flowers.

Finally home and time to face the week ahead. Make sure the uniforms are washed and ready to go, pantry stocked with lunch box supplies and sheets ready for kindy and day care… there’s always jobs to be done.

Meanwhile, the kids enjoyed some time playing (ie destroying the play room). That mess, combined with the weekend’s worth of junk that got carried out of the car and dumped at the front door are still waiting for me to deal with them tomorrow, now that my 2 day working week is over.

And just like that, Sunday is over. Needless to say, Sunday evening was spent slightly catatonic, on the couch.

2 years ago, we spent Sunday at the beach.

Anna, reading this post so reminded me of how I used to feel after such a weekend as a mother of 4 children. (They are all adults now). Beautifully written, (Catatonic used to a regular word in my vocabulary) and I love your photography…

That Sunday feel! Always intensified by a weekend away… Looks like a lovely weekend though. And such pretty poppies!
